A third Bi-Rite store opens in San Francisco

San Francisco will soon welcome a third Bi-Rite grocery store.

On Tuesday, the beloved local grocery store shared plans to take over Real Foods Co. space at 2140 Polk St in Russian Hill. It is expected to open early next year.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity for Bi-Rite to serve and be part of the Russian Hill and Polk Gulch community,” Bi-Rite owner Sam Mogannam said in a statement. “We had been looking for a place for years, a place where we could be part of the community fabric for decades to come.

In a statement shared with SFGATE, Bi-Rite plans to make minor changes to the layout and full maintenance of the existing grocery store. Bi-Rite added that it will honor the legacy of Real Foods Co. owners Kimball and Jane Allen by continuing to offer fresh produce.

Bi-Rite has stores at 550 Divisadero St. and 3639 18th St. in San Francisco. A third Bi-Rite store is scheduled to open at 2140 Polk St. in early 2023.

Sam and his brother Ralph Mogannam eventually became the second generation family owners (and the third pair of brothers) in 1997 when they began incorporating ready-to-eat meals.

Bi-Rite continues to operate its original storefront at 3639 18th St. and has a location at 550 Divisadero St. SFGATE has contacted Real Foods Co. for comment, but did not hear back at the time of posting. publication.
