Bronx video store owner demands return of dog that was inside stolen car

The owner of a Bronx video store is begging for the return of his dog who was inside his car when it was stolen last week.

Don Lampone left his red 2012 Honda racing to collect his wallet from his store in Morrisania around 2 p.m. last Wednesday. He says when he returned a few minutes later his car was gone – with his dog inside.

“I went crazy because I knew the dog was in there. I know I made a big mistake. I borrowed a friend’s car and started looking everywhere. searched for hours and couldn’t find it,” Lampone said.

His message for the carjacker is that his dog Brownie be returned safe and sound.

“Just bring the dog back. I’m not mad at you, you did what you did. We’re not going to press charges or anything. All we want is the dog,” he says.

Brownie is an 8-year-old Doberman pinscher-Chihuahua mix who needs medication for a heart condition.

“Maybe they’re trying to take care of him, but they don’t know what’s going on. That’s why it’s important that someone else sees him and helps us,” Lampone said.

Lampone scoured Facebook and Craigslist pages for any signs of Brownie. He increases his initial reward from $1,000 to $2,500.

“No questions asked. Bring the dog back, I will be very grateful,” says Lampone.

Police say whoever stole the car crossed the George Washington Bridge into New Jersey, but no arrests have yet been made.
