We’ve all found ourselves in one of those doomsday scrolling situations, haven’t we? One click leads to another and an hour has passed and you’re on a completely random website from where you started and you don’t even know what you’re looking at. Have you ever spent the time on a “Craigslist scroll”? I certainly did earlier today, and here are some fun and “furry” finds up for grabs here in the Hudson Valley.
Pine Bush Bulls & Cattle for Sale, Hudson Valley Craigslist
I’m not a regular Craigslist user, in fact I don’t think I’ve ever purchased anything from the site, but there are some great finds. Today, there were an excessive number of farm animal posts on the Hudson Valley page. Here are a few of my favorites, in no particular order:
Herefordshire Bulls, three of them listed just today, September 29, at Pine Bush NY, should you need to add a few bulls to your, uh, collection?
The description of available bulls lists Franky, a proven 5 year old bull. Massive hulk, great muscle, and very friendly’ – there’s also a side note that he likes having his shoulders scratched. It’s a $2,200 theft. Also available are two of Franky’s offspring, a two-year-old for $1,500 and another young bull born last spring who has the same parents as the 2-year-old, a bargain for $1,000. See additional gang photos and more detailed descriptions here.
There is also another batch of cows, or bulls, in the Pine Bush market. A three-year-old Highland Cattle bred with a Belted Galway, a two-year-old cross between a Herefordshire Bull and a Belted Galway, and a two-year-old pure Dexter, $1,000 apiece for these beauties.
Craigslist Goat and Other “Farmhouse” Finds
If the big ones aren’t really your thing, why not consider this adorable “fit and very healthy” goat who might be called Theresa, unless that’s this owner’s name. This animal is in Hyde Park and on the market for just $300.
Maybe the thought of tending livestock is too much for you to handle right now, you might consider these salt and pepper shakers for dogs as a nice introduction to starting your farm, or even better, a rooster weather vane to really get into the spirit of the farm.
I’m not sure about you, but one of the things that comes to mind is about the transaction of acquiring and caring for these animals, not even the legality of it, but like, ok yeah, I think I’m going to buy this goat on Craigslist and then figure out what I need and how to take care of it when I get home…anyone else think the same?
